Logging into the HELM Control Panel
Overview
Superlative Solutions utilizes the HELM(tm) Control Panel in order to enable clients to manage their domains in an easy-to-use system. The article provides information on how to log in, as well as demonstrating the main control panel and what features are available.

Logging into the HELM Control Panel system
Prior to attempting to log into the system, you should have received your username, password and the HELM Control Panel URL. If you do not have this information, please submit a ticket to our support department and we will be happy to assist you.

Assuming you do have this information, point your Web browser to the control panel link included in the Welcome message. The following page will be displayed:

HELM LoginUsername: Enter the username associated with your account. You should have received this from us in a "Welcome" message.

Password: Enter the password for your account. This should also have been provided in the "Welcome" message.

Language: You should normally leave this set to English, as other languages are not fully supported.

Interface: We recommend leaving this set to "Standard (XP)" although you are welcome to use other themes, if desired.

Remember Me: If you are using a computer that is only used by you, you may check this box, and your browser will remember your username and password, bypassing this screen in the future. Due to security concerns, do not use this setting on a public computer (such as a Library or shared computer at your business).

Logon button: When you have entered the above information, click this button to process your login.

If you have forgotten your password, you may contact us and we will resend the welcome message. Although the ability to reset your password is available (by clicking on the link labeled, "Click Here if you have lost your logon details") we do not recommend using it as it will assign a new password to you.

The Main Panel
Once you are logged into the system, you will be presented with the "Main Menu" which will appear similar to the following:

HELM Main User Menu

(Note: For the remainder of this article, the left navigation will not be shown, although it is available throughout the HELM system).

Before going into detail on the main panel, let's not a couple of things:

Top Navigation: About the "User Main Menu" text, you'll note some link. As you move through the HELM control panel, you can move back to a previous screen simply by clicking on one of these link.

Left Info Panel: On the left side are several features, including:
  • Quick Link or Jump menu: You can use this to move quickly to different management tasks.

  • Search Domains Field: If we are hosting multiple domains for you, you can type part of the domain here to instantly go the domain menu.

  • Resource Information Area: This area shows you how many domains are managed by the account, bandwidth used (over the last 30 days) and the amount of disk space used.
User Main Menu: Numerous icons are shown, allowing you to view or manage your hosting account. Each of these are explained as follows:
  • Packages: This will show you all hosting package associated with your account. DO NOT DELETE A PACKAGE, AS THIS WILL DELETE ALL DOMAINS, EMAIL, DATABASES, STATISTICS, ETC., ASSOCIATED WITH THE PACKAGE. If we could remove the ability to delete the package we would. Be aware that if you do delete a package, we can only restore databases and web files. You will have to manually recreate all mailboxes and FTP accounts. Also, there is a fee for a restore, so please stay away from the package delete button.

Click on the packages icon, however, will display the package menu, which will allow you to see your packages and how much of the system resources you are using.

  • Extra Features: We are not currently using this option, so don't worry about extra features at this time.

  • Domains: The "Domains" option will display a list of all domain names hosted under your account. There are two types of domains - Hosted and Alias. A Hosted domain is an actual Web site, and clicking on one will display the Domain Menu, which will allow you to manage the Web site, email, etc., associated with the domain. Clicking on a Domain Alias will show what Hosted Domain the alias is associated with.

  • Password: This icon allows you to change your control panel account password. It does NOT change passwords associated with email account, databases, etc. When you click this icon, the following will be displayed allowing you to choose a new password:

  • Personal Details: This will allow you to change your contact information.

  • Online Help: This icon does not provide any significant (or helpful) information.

  • Helm Extensions: There are some advanced options available by using the extensions, which are explained elsewhere in our system.
