This document explains how to configure Microsoft Entourage X, as installed with Office X for the Macintosh, to use POP with SmarterMail.

Configuring Entourage for POP3 email is very straight-forward. Following is a link to a step-by-step article on how to configure Entourage, hosting by the University of Wisconsin. Please refer to specific notes following the link for configuration unique to our environment:

Note the following changes to the article in order to be compatible with our environment:

Step 5: Your email address will be the email address associated with you domain. The Account ID is your complete email address. Also, the Incoming POP3 and Outgoing SMTP server will be "mail.yourdomain.com" (where "yourdomain.com" should be replaced with your actual domain name)

Step 8: Do not check the box "This POP service requires a secure connection (SSL)" as we do not support this. Also, leave the other settings on this dialog unchecked.

Step 9: Only check the option "SMTP server requires authentication" and make sure the radio button "Use same settings as receiving mail server" is checked.

Step 13: You may ignore this step.
